The Least-Visited Country in the World

Tuvalu is the world’s least visited country, according to Far & Wide.

This tiny island nation of only 12,000 people receives only about 2,000 visitors per year.

Travelers should be aware that Tuvalu only has one international airport.

Every Tuesday and Thursday, Fiji Airways flies in and out; however, this service is inconsistent, and visitors risk being stuck for a few extra days.

Other Least-Visited Countries

The Marshall Islands are the second-least visited country, with approximately 6,000 visitors per year.

These volcanic islands in the Pacific between the Philippines and Hawaii have pure white sand beaches, crystal clear water, and a diverse marine life and flora.

Travelers may be hesitant to visit the Marshall Islands due to previous nuclear testing. Some of the islands are off-limits due to testing.

Montserrat is another island country with few visitors. Montserrat was once a popular tourist destination, but a volcanic eruption in 1995 destroyed much of the island.

The island is still recovering and receives approximately 8,000 visitors per year. From Antigua, visitors can fly or take a ferry to the island.

Most visitors come for day trips, but tourism appears to be picking up again in the coming years. Niue is one of the world’s smallest countries, located in the South Pacific.

Every year, about 10,000 people visit the tiny island. Niue is a raised coral atoll rather than an island. Niue, unlike other island nations, is not a destination for a relaxing beach vacation.

It caters to adventurers who want to hike, swim, climb, and snorkel. Despite its small size and remote location, Niue I became the world’s first Wifi nation, providing free wireless internet access to all residents.

Travelers should be aware that there is only one flight per week to and from Niue.
